Winged IXX 2026 Sculpture

In Winged, cantilevered slabs extend outward from the concealed cavity — some reach the ground and become legs, others stay lifted, caught between falling and flight. Hand-coiled clay vessel extended by cantilevered slabs — some reaching the ground to form leg-like supports, others held aloft, caught between grounded and airborne. Each piece is built from a single hollow cavity, then shaped by weight and gesture rather than by a fixed plan, so no two pieces resolve the same way. Fired to a dark, metallic surface, the works read as sculptural objects first and vessels second — structural, upright, with a strong sense of movement even at rest. Suited to freestanding display: a plinth, a console, or a considered floor position where the piece's negative space and silhouette can be seen in the round.

Celadon Violin Ten Symbols of Longevity

This piece is chosen by those who understand that an object may carry the memory of one tradition while being transformed completely by another. “It appears to be a violin, yet what it truly holds is a landscape of blessing.” Created by Kwon O Hak, a master ceramic artisan of Icheon, this celadon violin sculpture is a work of cultural translation. It takes the recognisable form of the Western violin and remakes it through the language of Korean ceramic tradition. The result is neither a conventional instrument nor a novelty object, but a carefully conceived sculptural form in which engineering silhouette, symbolic decoration, and ceramic refinement converge. The most immediate point of transformation lies in the surface. Rather than polished wood, the body is covered in a quiet celadon glaze, whose soft blue-green depth evokes the esteemed colour tradition of Korean ceramics. This glaze alters the emotional register of the violin form. What is typically associated with resonance, tension, and performance is here rendered still, contemplative, and enduring. The object no longer suggests sound alone; it suggests atmosphere. Across that celadon field unfolds the imagery of sipjangs...

Celadon Sanjo Gayageum Peony and Phoenix

“Where music meets stillness, and clay becomes a memory of sound.” This extraordinary work is a porcelain reinterpretation of the gayageum—a beloved traditional Korean stringed instrument—crafted entirely by hand in Icheon and measuring approximately 55 cm in length. Though not intended for performance, this celadon gayageum is far more than a decorative homage. It is a sculptural symphony of form, precision, and symbolism—born of countless trials in the kiln. The body is formed from Goryeo-style celadon clay, glazed in a soft jade green with the distinctive crackle finish prized in classical Korean ceramics. Set into the surface using the sanggam (inlay) technique are two iconic motifs: the peony, symbol of prosperity, honour, and timeless beauty, and the phoenix, emblem of rebirth and noble grace. Together, these motifs express balance and ascension—making the piece not only beautiful, but deeply resonant in meaning. Every component of a true gayageum has been thoughtfully echoed in ceramic: the three sound chambers at the base, the delicately carved anjok (bridge pegs shaped like goose feet), the twisted strings, and the ornamental butterfly tassels. The reddish rim accent an...

Prototype Lounge Chair c.1990

A one of a kind, prototype lounge chair, designed and made in London circa 1990. The chair comprises two geometric elements upholstered in Kvadrat wool, which form the seat, back and arms. These elements are supported by a stainless steel semi circular frame that protrudes from a heavy circular stainless steel base. The contrast between the upholstered volumes and the stainless steel structure gives the chair a distinctly sculptural quality. Its experimental construction and combination of soft geometric forms with steel are characteristic of the renewed interest in expressive, independently produced furniture that emerged from London’s design scene during the late 1980s and 1990s. Dimensions (cm, approx): Height: 70 Width: 71 Depth: 78 Height to seat: 40 Condition: Very good with only minor imperfections.
