Riitta

Riitta is made up of parts and pieces upcycled from previous projects. For instance, the red wedge shapes are offcuts from some feet Bossert made for a sofa. This wall relief is comprised of dyed maple and birch plywoods, aluminum, and hand-dyed handwoven fabric. The composition is based on rugs, with a center focal point contained by multiple frames. The wall pieces Bossert makes are titled like hurricanes: women's names in alphabetical order. Riitta is the 18th wall piece in this series. Riitta is named after the former owner of the artist's house, who was Finnish. This piece uses a French cleat system for hanging. You will need a level when mounting the cleat and possibly wall anchors if you are hanging it on drywall. One-of-a-kind piece Materials: Maple, Aluminum, Cotton, Birch

The center portion is built as a flat, multicolored area also using glass paste and designed to be flat and smooth. Because I Am

This portrait was created using thousands of individually hand cut pieces of art glass. The process began with a photoshoot with a model. After selecting the "right" image from the many photos, Davidson used it to hand draw the portrait onto a large lightweight backer board. The next step was to select the glass and begin the lengthy process of cutting the small pieces and fitting them onto the hand drawn image. With the hair, he employed a different technique not typically used in mosaic art. Davidson used traditional stained glass fabrication techniques of cutting and grinding the glass to fit the pattern...in this case the pattern being the hair. The final part of the process was to grout the entire piece. It is framed in a black floating frame and is ready to hang. The title came about when going through the photos immediately after the photoshoot. Davidson commented to the model that she looks truly confident in the images, and she replied "Because I Am".
