Songs about Country Life

This richly-hued art glass wall sculpture is perfect for lovers of both music and country living alike. Featuring an eye-catching steer, and a twister winding its way through the countryside, the work owes its detailed texture to artist Michael Dupille's technique of fusing crushed glass of various sizes in a kiln environment, then applying it to a base sheet of glass using a powder paste. Fired numerous times at low temperature—granting it a uniquely tactile surface—the entire sculpture is mounted on an aluminum backing which is ready to hang. One-of-a-kind piece Materials: Glass Fabric & Care Clean with soft cloth and non-abrasive glass cleaner.

Canyon Series Sculptural Object

The intense color patterns of these pieces are created by laying out hand-pulled cane (small glass rods) in mosaic-like patterns. These are placed on a heated marver, which is then heated until the glass rods are brought up to the same temperature as the blowpipe. As the blowpipe is rolled across the marver, it picks up the design onto the core of colored glass. Several more layers are added on top of that gather. The process of adding more layers of class is called casing. This process adds depth to the blown glass art. Steven Main's work reflects his interest in the patterns found in nature, like striations in rocks, variegated forest tints and shades, and countless other visual rhythms of the planet. The Canyon Series is inspired by the colors, patterns, and textures of the desert southwest.
