LineScape 31 (Pelican Lakes II)

Part of her "LineScape" series, which is inspired by maps of real and imagined places, this piece was influenced by the artist's memories of hiking at the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. Thickened dyes were printed on cotton fabrics using a deconstructed screen-printing process. Multiple pieces of these hand-dyed fabrics were combined with detailed stitching to create textured layers of color. Thread drawing was then added intuitively to complete the work.
