Chair by Robert Clatworthy RA 1971

A sculptural chair by British artist Robert Clatworthy RA (1928–2015), made from wood and fibreglass resin. Conceived as sculpture rather than conventional furniture, the work reduces the familiar form of a chair to an expressive, almost totemic silhouette. Exhibited at Basil Jacobs Fine Art (1972) and Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (1972). Illustrated in Clatworthy's catalogue raisonné. Condition: various surface imperfections, structurally sound.
