'Vera' Glass Side Table

Vera explores the sculptural qualities of cast glass, its weight, transparency, texture, and the way light moves through the material. Each piece is shaped by the interplay of craftsmanship and the inherent characteristics of casting and finishing, making every Vera unique. Composed of three individually cast glass segments, each Vera is made and finished by Maximilian Beck in Germany through an elaborate mold making and casting process lasting several days. The contrast between optically clear, highly refined surfaces and raw, untreated areas is central to the character of Vera. Material inclusions, surface marks, and visible traces of casting and finishing remain part of the object, reflecting the process through which it was created. Small tolerances of approximately 1 to 2 mm between the segments allow the elements to come together naturally while preventing them from becoming wedged or creating excessive tension during assembly. As glass to glass contact requires particular care, incorrect handling or assembly may cause chipping.
